All men and women are storytellers…

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

All men (and women) are storytellers.  Some are extremely good at it, some do it without even thinking about it, and still some others are hit-or-miss.  Me?  I am probably more in the hit-or-miss category, but I still love a good story, I love to hear one and I have done my fair share of spinning yarns over the years.  Those who know me well know I have a love-hate relationship with technology, so this whole blog thing is a new experience for me.  Honestly, I just love writing stuff.  I have self-published my own novel, Baker’s Dozen, and have contributed content to a few other things.  But most of that was me writing for a subject or informational purposes.  This little project, well this is me just writing for me.  I am a man who enjoys imbibing in my whiskey, actually I am more of a bourbon guy but I tend not to discriminate when a thoughtfully poured glass of the beautiful amber juice is placed in front of me.  Something I have noticed over the years is that I tend to be more self-reflective when I am enjoying my dram.  Usually when the kids and the wife are in bed and the house is dark and quiet, except for Rocco, my Wheaten Terrier panting away.  So, maybe I am doing this to fulfill some ego-pumping need or to have something that will survive me when I am long gone (once it’s out in cyberspace, it’s out there forever, right?).  Maybe part of me is doing this for Jaxon and Emma, my children.  Maybe, one day when they are both grown up (hopefully that doesn’t come too fast) they can read my words and understand me a bit more.  Maybe something I write will impart some wisdom or can be a story for their kids – see how that storytelling thing works?  Sometimes, just writing is cathartic, like a digital diary or an open letter to the masses to just get some shit off my chest.  Hopefully Jax and Em are old enough to read me typing swear words.  Whatever the reason, it is what it is… God, how I love that expression, so simple and yet timeless…  So, come along with me on this ride if you like, I can’t promise it will be better than reading Hemingway, but hopefully there is more intelligent dialogue than an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians…
